Most of us know how to rotate an image file in Windows operating system by opening the image file in the photo viewer and then clicking on the alternating options. But many of us don’t know that we can rotate an image in Windows Explorer or File Explorer without opening the image file in any image viewer.

If you have one or more image files in one of the folders on your Windows 10 computer, you can rotate clockwise or anti-counterclockwise with ease. The good thing is that you can even use keyboard shortcuts to turn the image files quickly.

Follow the instructions in the methods below to easily rotate pictures in Windows File Explorer.

Method 1: Rotate images in Windows Explorer 10 File Explorer

Step 1: Open File Explorer (Windows Explorer) and navigate the folder containing the image files.

Step 2: Select the image you want to rotate by clicking on it.

Note: You can rotate multiple pictures at once using this method. To do so, please select all images you want to rotate and then proceed to the next step.

Step 3: Click the Manage tab and then click the Rotate Left or Rotate right to rotate the selected image file.

Method 2: Rotate images with shortcuts

And if you prefer to use the shortcut to rotate the image, after selecting the image files you want to rotate, press the Alt key, press JP, press RL to rotate left, and press RR to rotate to the right.

Method 3: Rotate the image using the right-click context menu

Step 1: Select the picture file (s) you want to rotate.

Step 2: Right-click and then click the Rotate right or Rotate right option.
