The Print to PDF feature built into Windows 10 lets you save your document as a PDF. Using this feature, you can remove the password from the PDF. You can also use the Google Chrome browser and Microsoft Edge in Windows 10 to remove passwords from PDF files.

Method 1: Use the built-in Print to PDF feature to remove the PDF password

If you are using Windows 8 or Windows 7, please refer to the instructions in Method 2 of this article.

Step 1: Open the PDF file (with the password you want to remove) with any web browser or any other application supporting opening the PDF. We are opening a PDF file with Firefox, but you can open it with any pdf reader.

Step 2: When you are asked to enter the PDF file password, enter the same to open the PDF file. In case you forgot your password, try the third-party programs mentioned in Method 4 of this article.

Step 3: When the PDF file is opened, press Ctrl + P to view the Print dialog box.

Step 4: Select Microsoft Print to PDF from the printer’s list, click the Print / OK button, choose a location to save the PDF file and then click the Save button to save the PDF file without a password.

Now you can open the newly created PDF file without entering the password. You can delete the old password-protected PDF file now.

Remove password from PDF using Google Chrome

Step 1:Open the PDF file in Google Chrome browser. Enter your password when asked to do so.

Step 2: After opening the PDF file, right-click anywhere on it, click the Save as an option, choose a location to save the PDF file and then click the Save button to save the PDF file without a password.

Use Microsoft Edge to remove passwords from PDF

Step 1:Open the PDF file with Microsoft Edge and enter your password when prompted.

Step 2: Right-click anywhere on the PDF content, click Save as, choose a location to save the new PDF file (without the password) and then click the Save button.
