Windows 10 users have received the Bad_Module_Info error when running slightly certain games. For some, this problem started after the fall developer update, while others said it would appear in December 2017. This error mainly crashes the app when it runs or when the user launches it. The apps affected by this are games, specifically. Here’s how to fix the Bad_Module_Info error.

Fix Bad_Module_Info error

Disable Fullscreen Optimizations

This error is a byproduct of the fullscreen optimization feature in Windows 10. After the Fall Developer Update, there is no simple, one-button method to disable full-screen optimization. To fix the Bad_Module_Info error, you need to disable full-screen optimization for the app generating that error.

Right-click on the application icon. Select ‘ Properties ‘ from the context menu.

Go to the Compatibility tab and check the option ‘ Disable fullscreen optimizations ‘. Click Apply.

Reboot your system. The Bad_Module_Info error should go away.

Update GPU Driver

For some users, especially those with an Nvidia GPU, disabling full-screen mode might not be enough. Full-screen optimization might not be the cause of the problem. Check if your GPU drivers are up to date and if not, update them now.

Open Device Manager, right-click on your GPU, and select ‘Update Driver’.

Windows Update doesn’t always find the latest driver, so you should check the manufacturer, i.e., Nvidia or AMD websites, to update the driver for your GPU model.

Runs in compatibility mode

Right-click on the icon of the problematic application and choose Properties.

Go to the Compatibility tab, and enable ‘ Run this program in compatibility mode for ‘. You will need to try both Windows 8 and Windows 7 and see what fixes it.

If compatibility mode doesn’t fix the problem, try running the app in compatibility mode with full-screen optimization disabled.

Check the hardware

It may be worth examining your hardware. Specifically, you want to see if your GPU is broken or not. If it does, the solutions above won’t work unless you repair your hardware first. If you have had trouble with the game before, the Bad_Module_Info error could be just a symptom of a larger issue, i.e., a corrupted GPU.

Users could fix the Bad_Module_Info error through one of the aforementioned solutions; however, users had to uninstall and reinstall the game or application again to fix the error in some isolated cases. We recommend that you try it out only after you have exhausted all other solutions.
