Up until now, when I played the whole Uncharted series again, I discovered that this brand contains quite a lot of haunting things.
Uncharted ended, Nathan Drake’s career was officially closed after Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. It can be said that this series had a complete ending when Nathan had a happy life with Elena Fisher. Will this brand be rebooted? Or will Naughty Dog continue the series with Nathan’s next daughter Cassie Drake? No one knows where Uncharted’s future will go after season 4.
After playing the whole series again, I found something quite exciting and quite haunting. Even after playing many times, I was not surprised or startled by these things. Sometimes, it is haunted by the dark theories that fans set themselves up.
The event connects directly to The Last of Us.
Although heard through, maybe readers will not see any similarities between the two Naughty Dog game brands. Uncharted is a series of action-adventure games based on the theme of treasure hunting, while The Last of Us has a post-apocalyptic setting – when the Cordyceps pandemic ravaged the world. Gamers increasingly believe that these two game brands are located in the same universe, although Naughty Dog did not speak up for official confirmation. Considering the timeline between Uncharted and The Last of Us, many hypotheses that the happy life of Nathan Drake, Elena Fisher, and her daughter Cassie Drake will not last long. The context of Uncharted 4 is set when The Last of Us’s “Cordyceps” plague is transitioning from stage two to stage three, as the Runner gradually evolves into Clicker.
Many other theories claim that Nathan Drake himself accidentally let the “Cordyceps” epidemic spread to the outside world. We all know Nathan’s journeys contain many supernatural and mysterious elements. No one foresaw that he would not accidentally let a bacterium spread to the world.

The grandeur of “Nate’s Theme” has undoubtedly created a lot of motivation for fans, and it has become an indispensable part. However, on Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, everything changed.
In stark contrast to the first three parts, the Uncharted four boot screen is quiet and scary. The heroic song no longer existed. Instead, Naughty Dog inserted the ocean waves’ sound and the cage’s creaking sound containing a human skeleton inside. Along with that, the game title’s disappearance also makes players feel worried about what they are going to experience in the game. It gives players the fear that Uncharted 4 is a lousy ending for Nathan Drake.
Victims of kidnapping in Uncharted: Golden Abyss
In Uncharted: Golden Abyss, a version developed for handheld gaming devices, players can also find clues of a sad and haunting story in a mystery called Proof of Life. These clues include various items leftover from kidnapped victims, as well as ransom notes. These are the people captured by the villain, Roberto Guerro, who enslaved his private smuggling and drug trafficking establishment.
The worst thing is that these victims, even though they had ransom, are not released by Roberto Guerro. Among the victims, we can see a few new high school-age students, an entrepreneur arrested with his wife, and several people on vacation who were enslaved. It is cruel to know that their fates will never return home to meet their relatives. Those destined to die in a foreign land die when that seemed to be the funniest in life.
The imaginary husband of Elena Fisher
In Uncharted 3, you can see the relationship between Elena Fisher and Nathan Drake is a bit contradictory. However, to part 4, not knowing how Elena has wholly recovered the nature of Nathan’s exploration, turning him into a man of the genuine family. Nathan and Elena’s life is relatively happy and stable. Fans have witnessed the sweetest and most romantic moments of this couple. However, Uncharted four at that time had a funny error. It caused many people to come up with too dark theories.
Uncharted: The most famous game brand on PlayStation, Uncharted is a well-known PlayStation exclusive title. Even though the main storyline has ended, it still has things you probably didn’t know.
To explain further, this error made Nathan Drake completely disappear in the context of love with Elena. Only his voice remained. When witnessing the mistake, there was a hypothesis that Nathan Drake was long dead, and the whole life was later only imagined by Elena. She performed herself. This is a dark theory for the Uncharted brand.
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves – Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
If you’ve played Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, surely you will be impressed and startled by this scene. It was a segment where Nathan Drake and a native were walking through ice caves. They saw several wolves’ bodies, and the important thing is that they seemed to have just been killed, and the cause was not human. It makes things seem more uncomfortable.
Later, when Nathan jumped near the exit of the cave, something black appeared near the screen. Perhaps we all thought it was a rock until it moved and let out a terrifying growl. For a moment, the soulless gaze and its sharp teeth were startled by anyone. It was a rapid moment but enough to create tension for the player.
Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deceptions
In the first Uncharted, Nathan is faced with a virus that turns people who inhale into zombie-like monsters. Sang Uncharted 2, Nathan also had to fight the Guardians of Shambhala, who had been transformed into more brutal and violent after coming into contact with the Tree of Life resin. Sang Uncharted 3, it seems Naughty Dog does not want to put the supernatural element anymore. According to the legend in-game, the city of Ubar collapsed and disappeared because of an uprising of the demons.
However, after Nathan Drake found the city and discovered it, the truth was revealed. As it turned out, the city’s entire water source was affected by a potent hallucinogenic substance. It has driven the people crazy, killing each other and destroying the city. It may not be as scary as a Nazi zombie, but this scenario is much more realistic and cruel, much more haunting.
