You cannot find any way to delete a WordPad document while looking everywhere and cannot find the button “Delete”.
As you discovered, you can use no button or menu option to delete the document in the WordPad app itself, Stacey. I know it’s hard to believe, but it’s true.
But you have the following ways to delete the document.
How to Delete a File in WordPad
But that being said, there are at least three easy ways to delete a WordPad document.
Two of these methods involve the everyday use of Windows tools but do have a simple task that allows you to delete a document right from WordPad’s “File” menu.
The first “Windows” method is to navigate to the folder containing the file you want to delete in File Explorer and then delete it from there. Here’s how:
1 – Press the Windows + E key combination to open File Explorer.
2 – Navigate to the folder containing the file you want to delete, then right-click on the file name and select Delete from the drop-down menu.
If you don’t know which folder contains the file you want to delete, you can search for that folder and then delete it. Here’s how:
1 – Press the Windows + S key combination to open the “Search” box.
2 – Enter the name of the file you want to delete in the Search box (be sure to include the file extension if you know it), then right-click on the file name and choose Open file location from the drop-down menu. That will open the folder containing the files you want to delete.
3 – Right-click on the filename you want to delete and then select Delete from the drop-down menu.
If you already have WordPad open and you know which folder contains the file you want to delete, you can delete that file from the “File” menu using this simple task:
1 – Click File to open the “File” menu, then choose Open from the drop-down menu.
2-Navigate to the folder containing the file you want to delete, then right-click on the file name and select Delete from the drop-down menu.
Now you know three different ways to delete a file created with WordPad.
I hope this helps you. Good luck!
