Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool is a free program developed by Intel Corporation. As the name suggests, it can only test processors developed by Intel and cannot test other processors.
With Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool, you can check if your PC’s Intel processor is working correctly or not. This software is straightforward to use and can be used by novice users.
Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool carries a wide range of tests, including genuine Intel, brand chain, cache, MMXSSE, IMC, prime number, floating-point, matching, GPUStressW, CPU load, CPU frequency, PCH, and SPBC and display results for each test.
The Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool runs temperature monitoring parallel with the tests mentioned above to check if the processor is overheating. The instrument also shows the minimum and maximum temperatures recorded during these tests.
To know each test’s purpose, click on the Config tab, and then click on one of the tests to see details.
A CPU load test is one of the important tests performed by this software. The CPU load utility checks the processor if it can withstand a 100% load.
In the CPU Features tab, you can find all the features supported by your Intel processor.
With the default settings, the Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool runs a fully functional test, which takes about four minutes. But if you want to run the test for a longer time, you can choose the “burn-in” test by navigating to Tools> Config> Presets> Burn-In Test. Note that the “write-in” test only tests your processor for a longer time and does not test additional features.
