Suppose you find that some of your newly installed devices are not working correctly or your Windows computer freezes frequently. You may want to consider removing old and unused device drivers in Windows 10/8/7.
How to Delete Old Drivers in Windows
First, remove old and unused drivers from your Windows computer, open the Start Menu and right-click on the computer, and select Properties. From the left panel, click on “ Advanced system settings ” and click on Environment Variables. Alternatively, open the Control Panel and type Environment Variables.
Now in the User variables box, click New and type:
Devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices
In the Variable Name text box and 1 in the Variable Value text box. This will set the flag to allow you to view unused devices.
Now type devmgmt.msc in the search process and press Enter to open Device Manager.
Click the ” View ” tab and select ” Show hidden devices “. Expand the twigs in the device tree and look for the fading icons. They show unused Device Drivers.
Right-click on it and choose Uninstall.
