The latest CG movie, Resident Evil: Vendetta, is like a makeover of the style, bringing a fascinating story and a Hollywood action.
Resident Evil: Vendetta is the latest CG movie of Resident Evil that was released in early 2017. Compared to the previous two films, this title has many style changes to bring the film to most non-viewers instead of just for their hard fans. The movie revolves around a biological terrorist plot of a black market weapons boss who targets New York with many dramatic actions and stunning visual effects.
Although there is no specific timeline, the Vendetta part’s context is supposed to happen after Part 6. This is the first time we see Chris Redfield in a long CG movie to do to the BSAA ( Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance ). This time, he brought the task of monitoring Mexican commandos to Queretaro to capture the black market biological weapons boss, Glenn Arias. He also took hostage as BSAA’s Cathy White agent along with her son Jack.
Glenn Arias is a very dangerous target targeted by the BSAA because after TriCell and Neo-Umbrella disappeared, he almost acquired the entire black market biological weapons market, providing prohibited weapons for anyone’s demand.
After setting foot in Arias’s mansion, the team divided into three groups to infiltrate the crime base and hunt down the hostages. A group has found the boy Zack, but unfortunately, the child was infected and quickly killed all three members. Hearing the fighting, Chris’s group immediately ran to support. One group member was directly pulled down under the bed by other infectious people. The other was attacked by Zack, forcing Chris to throw grenades to destroy the room and kill his recently bitten teammate. The captain of the commando team lost contact with the remaining members. He immediately called a helicopter and ordered the withdrawal. Another zombie in the room appears and bites the captain. The other two members find a way to escape but run right into the steel wire trap and are split into pieces.
Chris was the only one who managed to escape by jumping out the window. But on the run, he encountered righteous Glenn Arias. He controlled and stripped all of Chris’s weapons. Arias told him that he now possesses the latest biological weapon, making the host aware of his host and foe. The living evidence now is that Cathy, Chris’s colleague, has been turned into a zombie with the other zombies rushing to attack him while Arias and his friends leave. Fortunately, the rescue helicopter arrived and killed all the zombies, saving Chris, but Cathy was killed.
The viewer is now transferred to Arias’s flashback scene, in which he is conducting a wedding ceremony with his fiancee on an island. Suddenly, government aircraft dropped bombs that killed Arias’s wedding, killing his attendees and his fiancée. He survived and now stands in his apartment in New York, still wearing his wedding ring with his wife.
The incident took place four months later at the Alexander Biological Research Institute in Chicago, where Professor Rebecca Chamber is trying to develop a vaccine to curb the development of a new virus recently spread in New York. Many aggressive attacks have occurred. The US government has not officially reported fear of causing a disturbance, but Rebecca herself thinks this is a deliberate act, not a natural spread.
Rebecca Chambers was a rookie at STARS Bravo, and later with a lot of experience in biochemistry research, she became a researcher and consultant for BSAA.
Her partner Aaron came to say that 30 infected corpses had been brought to test the newly-prepared 252 vaccines. Rebecca begged him to get it. Arias’s henchman, Maria Gomez, killed Aaron on the way to receive the sample.
Rebecca still did not know what the program signaled that prototype number 252 had been developed successfully on the computer screen. Before she was happy, suddenly, the research facility’s power supply was disconnected, all switched to alarm mode. A strange gas was released through the facility’s ventilation system, turning everyone into zombies. Rebecca also inhaled but promptly got up to look for a vaccine to inject into the person and recover data about it. Suddenly, she saw Aaron and all the others in the research facility transformed. Rebecca tried to hide and fight back until the BSAA team arrived to rescue them. She met Chris Redfield here.
Chris escorted Rebecca to safety. He talks to her about Arias and the conspiracy he is working on. Rebecca’s research facility’s attack may also be one of his plans to disrupt vaccine preparation and data collection. Rebecca also said that the victims’ virus was very similar to the one Los Illuminados had used based on what she considered. For more clues, the two decided to find the one who had once confronted that strange church: Leon S. Kennedy.
But when they found Leon, the two received a non-cooperative attitude. Leon said that he was tired after his team was sold out and killed by an insider. Chris was angry that Leon could only blame himself while Arias was about to destroy the world. Seeing the two quarrel, Rebecca became impatient. She said that the entire virus was in the people of all people, just activated by something, it would all become zombies. The only way to prevent and cure this outbreak is in the vaccine that she injected into the blood and the data she stored in her laptop. After saying that, Rebecca left and left the two to solve it on her own. While Chris and Leon were still stubborn, Arias’s subordinates Maria and Diego Gomez suddenly took a beating, taking Rebecca to Arias’s whereabouts.
At this moment, suddenly Patricio – hand teammate sold Leon – appeared, begging for help. He said he knew too much about Arias, so he feared that the weapon boss might kill his family. Before asking anything more from him, Leon and Chris were attacked by Arias’s limbs. Patricio is killed, and Leon and Chris only know that Arias is plotting a large-scale biological attack. The two had to shake hands with each other to solve the case, saving Rebecca.
Rebecca, after being brought to Arias’s residence, was forced to attend her wedding. He said she looked a lot like her fiancé Sara and was impressed with what she did when she made a vaccine against his virus. Rebecca told him that she had learned about Arias’s trick about the whole process of making A-virus. First, by infecting the Great Lakes’ water, the virus is potentially harmless in the host’s body. The agent that activates their activity is the special gas he used in her facility, which causes the viruses to grow and accelerate zombies. But the final stage is converted into a vaccine, which helps the host prevent metabolism and return to normal. Arias praised and offered to marry Rebecca, or rather, a substitute for his deceased wife. Rebecca resisted, and Arias decided to take her to the laboratory to infect her with a new A-virus strain.
On the part of Chris and Leon, the two trackings Rebecca’s research data learned that Arias’s plot was to infect New York City. However, he still kept the vaccine in his place. They plan to break in and take back the Arias vaccine. Weapons boss decided to execute his plot earlier than planned. He ordered Maria to bring the car carrying biogas to activate A-virus to the streets of New York. Immediately, the infection broke out like a forest fire.
Chris, after destroying all the gas trucks, immediately ran to Arias’s lair. He followed Chris through the camera screen, challenged him, and said that Rebecca helped him to make the A-virus even more potent than it was at first. Numerous zombies were released to destroy Chris, but fortunately, Leon was able to support them. However, because they were so crowded that Rebecca did not have much time, the two decided to separate so that Chris could quickly rescue the young professor.

After finding Rebecca, Chris also confronted the giant Diego but quickly resolved him with fire. Chris brought Rebecca to where Arias containing the vaccine was ambushed by the boss right on the rooftop. No other way, Chris was forced to fight Arias. He kept getting the upper hand until Chris cheated and threw him into a glass window. While dying, Arias sees Diego (still not dead), who orders the giant to release his final form and merge.
Rebecca began to show signs of transformation. She begged Chris to kill her before being turned into a monster. At that moment, Arias – having fused with Diego, crawled back to the rooftop to resume the abandoned war. The monster quickly controlled Chris, but just in time for Leon to appear to rescue them. Not wasting time, Chris ran to find vaccine A while Leon held Arias’s limbs. The battle was unequal until Chris’s helicopter had to fight. In the end, the guild could kill him with a shot in the heart.
Chris let Rebecca use the vaccine just in time so that she would not be mutated. The vaccine was then sprayed throughout New York, helping the infected people quickly return to normal. Leon sat with Chris and Rebecca, wondering how long this would continue. Chris told her not to go that far because they had saved everyone now.
However, at Arias’s ruined base, Maria Gomez is still alive, and her eyes are filled with hatred. Everything is not over.
