What is a PDD file?
One file with the PDD file extension is most likely an Adobe PhotoDeluxe image file created with Adobe PhotoDeluxe. This type of image format is similar to Adobe’s PSD format because they can store images, lines, text, and layers.
Adobe PhotoDeluxe was discontinued in 2002 and replaced with Adobe Photoshop Elements. However, as you can see below, Adobe Photoshop Elements isn’t the only program that can open and edit PDD files.
PDD files do not image files that are probably Medtronic Programmer data files. These types of files store patient information from the Implantable Medicronic Chronicle Monitor.
Note: PDD is also used as an abbreviation for professional disk for data and physical device driver.
How to Open a PDD file
PDD files can be opened and edited using Adobe PhotoDeluxe, but chances are you don’t have that program installed. To open PDD files for free, you can use XnView. This program is only a media viewer and converter, although not an image editor.
Some of the other ways you can open and edit PDD files are with Adobe software and Adobe. ACD Systems Canvas also supports the PDD format.
Medtronic Chronicle software can open PDD files with Medtronic Programmer data files, but I have not been able to find a specific download link for it.
Note: If these programs don’t open your file, you might not work with a PDD file but instead look like a PPD file. Some files share familiar extended characters even though they don’t have the same format, like PDF, PDI, XPD, DDL, and PPD (Printer Description) files.
How to Convert a PDD File |
The easiest way to convert PDD files to JPG, BMP, TIFF, PNG, PDF, and similar image formats is to upload files to CoolUtils.com. Once the PDD file is on that website, you can choose which form to convert it to. You must download the converted file back to your computer before you can use it.

If any program can convert the Medtronic Programming Data file to some other format, I assume it’s a Medtronic program, which you might have been lucky to find through the link from above.
