While retaining the original’s core parts, the Resident Evil 2 Remake is a brand new game with many valuable changes.
In the gameplay demo that we saw at E3 2018, one thing that fans of the Resident Evil series are interested in is that the Resident Evil 2 Remake has transformed the camera into a 3rd perspective on the shoulder, different from the traditional role-playing style as before. Explaining this, Capcom wants the player to feel a broader perspective, close to the zombies to feel the horror of the game, instead of the old camera focusing on dead corners to cause panic for people to play.
One more thing is that with a wider perspective, the game will open up many options in solving puzzles and shooting. We saw the Resident Evil 2 Remake do quite well this job in the demo when it feels creepy. Followed Leon’s footsteps in the dark corridors at the police station. And if you do not remember, Resident Evil 4 has been extremely successful using this camera angle, hoping that the Resident Evil 2 Remake will do the same.
Many changes have been revealed in the trailer in the Raccoon police station. The first to mention is that Resident Evil 2 Remake will no longer have transitions whenever you open the door. Tips for cutting off the tail of Zombie by going through The doors that follow will also be ineffective. They will follow you to the end of the earth until they are killed. Another thing is that the legendary dagger will also return. Whenever Zombie is captured, the player can use a combination of buttons (almost like the original) to push and slash them with a dagger.
Seamless elements also apply. For example, when you stab a dagger into Zombie, it will be stuck that Leon must come to draw to use, similar to other equipment. Put the case when we go to a section where we need a dagger to solve a puzzle and suddenly remember how to forget, it will be new features added in Resident Evil 2 Remake, besides the mechanism to combine gunpowder to create as good as Resident Evil 3.
With many people worried that the Resident Evil 2 Remake will not be scary enough, Capcom also announced that they have a way to please the veteran fans. By leaving safe rooms (savepoints) and letting zombies move freely, nowhere is safe in Resident Evil 2 Remake, no matter where you stand. Players can also pick up pieces of boards or items that fall on the ground to make temporary barriers because we all know that besides Zombie, the Resident Evil 2 Remake also has many other dangerous things.
Having two main characters is also a problem to discuss if, in the previous version, the player can control both Claire and Leon, respectively, and each play part will interact with each other. The bad news is that at Resident Evil 2 Remake, it is likely no longer available. There will still be two separate rounds for Claire and Leon, but whether it will interact with each other or not is still a mystery.
Resident Evil 2 Remake is expected to launch on January 25, 2019, on all 3 PC systems, Playstation 4 and Xbox One.
